What’s your favorite? Survivor, Big Brother, Jersey Shore, or did you get in on reality TV in the beginning with The Real World? No matter your favorite, if you’re a fan and a runner, we have the race for you! The Reality Run hits the streets of Las Vegas, NV on July 6, 2013 and you’re invited.
Touted as a family friendly event, the organizers of this fun 5K encourage runners and walkers to dress as their favorite reality star. Omarosa, Kate Gosselin, or Richard Hatch, anyone? Meet at Sunset Park at 8:00 AM with your running shoes ready to go.
Shoes are the most critical piece of equipment for a runner (yes, more important than your iPod!). If it has been years since you’ve purchased a new pair, you are putting your feet at risk. The American Podiatric Medical Association recommends replacing shoes every 350 to 500 miles.
Focus on fit and support when you shop. Shopping at the end of the day when the feet are the largest is always best. Remember to buy a half size larger than normal to accommodate movement of the feet during running. Specialty stores often have knowledgeable staff to help with assessing the best shoe for your feet.
If foot pain is stopping you from entering this race or others like it, treatment is imperative. Runners commonly face overuse injuries such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, and stress fractures. If left untreated, the pain in your feet and ankles will stop you in your tracks. Dr. Noah Levine provides excellent foot care at three convenient Las Vegas, NV locations. Call today for an appointment or schedule online.
